“Visual storytelling” is a popular marketing buzzword used to describe everything from a social media campaign to a Superbowl commercial, but the fact is, visuals have been used to tell stories long before words.
One of my first jobs was as a stringer for the Lansing State Journal, and I continued taking pictures with newspapers and regional magazine throughout my university years. As the photo editor and later art director at a handful of magazines in the U.S. and Europe, I was involved in all aspects of photography, including sourcing images, taking pictures, and producing large-scale fashion and editorial spreads.
I now focus mostly on the written aspects of storytelling, but I continue to use my skills in graphic design and photography in a variety of ways to serve my clients, from designing company logos and print advertisements to photographing interiors and events.
